Easter Dresses

Three girls, three Easter dresses. Three bows, three tights and three pairs of shoes to match. Once again I'm realizing the small fortune required to raise girls. I started my search a month ago and quickly realized how totally ridiculous the cost was going to be to buy cute, fancy dancy matching dresses with the absolute required accessories. Just try this on for size - an
"average" dress probably runs around $25-30 dollars. That's for something simple. (For those of you who don't have girls a formal dress is usually between $65 - $90 dollars) Add $14.00 times THREE for shoes, three bows at $7.00 a piece, tights $7.00 a piece and we are looking at more than $150.00 - FOR SOMETHING THEY WILL ONLY WEAR A SHORT, SHORT TIME! Oh, and since most Easter dresses are meant for warm weather lets add another $15.00 a piece for sweaters to go over the top. Now we are up to $200 dollars. I give up.

I think I settled on buying the dress pictured above for Hallee, Hope gets a really cute hand-me-down from Hallee (remember the days when you only had one kid - so you spent ridiculous amounts of money on a dress?) and Caymbree is going to wear a really fun dress my friend gave me when she was born. They don't match - in fact they will really clash. Thank goodness for pictures in sepia!

darling. layla has about 5 fancy schmancy dresses left over from christmas-time, so i went the same route you did--a cute bright summery dress. at 50% off, i couldn't pass it up.

your girls always look darling anyway. :)

I have to admit, it would be fun to shop for cute dresses. But...I do save a lot of money by having boys. Boys clothes are all just so basic and so plain. T-shirt and jeans and they're set. I just look at it like this: since I save money on them, I can spend it on ME- my girl clothes!! Makes sense, right?? ;)

Anyway, that dress is darling and I'm sure your girls will look darling too- in anything!

I think it is possible for the one dress to be cute enough for all of them. Since you have 3 of them, you can think of it as an investment. There, don't you feel better.

Can't wait to see your 3 girls all dolled up for Easter Sunday. TOO cute! Lunch was fun today...craft night next week?

Yes, your clothes buying habits definitely change by the 3rd kid. I remember buying so many things I thought were a *deal* that I'd never buy now. Your girls will look lovely in whatever you put them in!

I still can feel the pain from when mine were toddlers. I wanted them all to match (boys and girls). Very expensive, I know. Now my girls still want new easter outfits. I've always thought it would be fun for all 3 of us to have coordinating dresses, skirts, etc., but again, it becomes a $$$ issue. It never changes! I'm hitting Target and Payless this week for my girls! Happy Easter.

Oh the joy of having girls! It can be such a pain and really expensive, but I love it anyways! I've been searching for a dang sweater for my 5 year old for weeks...been to like 10 stores and still can't find a winner..it's just what we do!

So, glad I could stay caught up on what you're up to! Comps just aren't enough.

I totally agree! I only have one girl to buy for but it just gets ridiculous. I can only imagine buying for 3! I think thats why black & white and sepia were invented... for non-matching clothes. Its such a problem solver :)

Easter is really expensive! It's just as bad for boys, if you can believe it, pants, shirt, shoes, tie. I usually get them new church outfits for Christmas and Easter and mix and match throught the year. I was hoping to skip out this year, but they are growing too fast, so of course I couldn't. Luke still had to wear shoes too small b/c we couldn't find his size at any store!
